Fredericksburg Timeless
LOTS TO DO FOR EVERYONE
Fredericksburg, the site of the 62nd Annual Conference of the Accountants Society of Virginia, has a wide variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy when you come.
The area has played gracious host to famous and ordinary travelers from many other times. In 1608, Captain John Smith sailed up the uncharted Rappahannock River to the fall line and what is now Fredericksburg. George Washington was born and raised at Ferry farm which is not far from the area. James Monroe practiced law here as well. Four major battles of the Civil War were fought in and around Fredericksburg.
MEETING LOCATION IN THE CENTER OF IT ALL
The Annual Conference is being held at the Courtyard at Marriott Fredericksburg Historic District 620 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, 540-373-8300. You may use the hotel’s valet parking or park in the nearby parking deck. Limited, timed, street parking is available.
The hotel, a non-smoking property, offers WiFi and an indoor pool. It is located one block from the Visitors Center. There are trolley tours and carriage rides available. A wide variety of restaurants, antique stores and art galleries await you just outside the front door of the hotel.
Make sure you sign up for ASV’s special “Walking Tour” of Historic Downtown Fredericksburg on Thursday afternoon. Thursday evening, enjoy a delicious meal followed by the musical “Footloose” with fellow ASV members and friends, at the Riverside Dinner Theater.

LET’S MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN WE MEET
ASV asks all meeting attendees to help out in two ways:
- To help the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, (www.fredfood.org), each attendee is requested to bring 3 – 5 cans of food to help restock its pantry. Recommended items include:
peanut butter & jelly, canned meats & stews, canned fruits & vegetables, soups, boxed cereals, macaroni, spaghetti and rice. Or write a check to the food bank and make a donation that way.
Last year, we donated enough to provide 21 meals to those less fortunate.
- ASV will be also collecting any unused hotel soaps, shampoos and lotions to give to the local homeless shelter, the Thurman Brisben Center.
