Michelle is the founder and President of Fowler & Company, LTD and has been working in banking and internal audit since 1990. Founded in 2001, Fowler & Company's specialized focus is on internal audit, training, risk, internal controls, and compliance. Michelle is an engaging and highly rated speaker and author. Her diverse combination of Internal Audit training and consulting gives her a unique perspective and provides current "real world" experience. Michelle holds the designations of Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and Certification in Risk Management. Michelle's experience prior to Fowler & Company includes time in public accounting, including Deloitte, and working in internal audit shops in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Description:

This training has been created to help you meet the Virginia Board of Accountancy's (VBOA) annual 2-hour (100-minute) CPE requirement for 2018. In 2003, the Virginia General Assembly passed a law requiring all CPAs subject to Virginia CPE requirements to take an annual Ethics CPE course.

Objectives:
Developed using that outline as the course framework, attendees will be able to accomplish the following fundamental objectives: - Clarify the impact of VBOA statute change - Summarize CPE reciprocity and mobility - Paraphrase the VBOA policy changes and their effects - Apply the steps of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct conceptual framework - Recall the safeguards and threat assessment and how to employ them in everyday practice - Understand the CPA's obligation to protect a client or employer's electronic data - Recognize the importance of compliance with professional standards.
