Learning Symposium 

The society holds a three day learning symposium that is intended to offer attendees cutting edge and quality tax continuing education led by state and nationally known instructors. Social events are planned to promote networking between tax and accounting professionals from across the state. Also held at the symposium, is the annual business meeting of members, this is an opportunity for the VSTAP leadership to update the membership on the state of affairs, conduct a financial review and install newly elected board members. 

Save the date for the 2020 Learning Symposium to be held July 13-15 at The Virginian Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton in Lynchburg, VA. Schedule, speaker and course details will be announced this winter.

Day & overnight self-parking for attendees is complimentary, valet parking is $10/per car.

Please reference that you are with the Virginia Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals group. Reservation deadline is Friday, June 12, 2020. Please note that rates are available 2 days before and after the meeting. All reservations are subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy, reservations cancelled within 48 hours of arrival will be charged one night's room and tax.

2019 Annual Conference Recap

The 2019 Annual Conference was a success! Held June 10-12, 2019 at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, VA, members came together for networking, professional development and the annual meeting of members was conducted. In 3 days, attendees earned 20 CPE credits, connected with industry leaders and collaborated with peers dealing with the same day-to-day issues. Attendees walked away learning new skills, updating old skills and planned ahead for future growth. 

Speakers included: Frank Cellini, EA, ABA, ATA, ATP, Frank taught the Circular 230 Ethics course and a course entitled Buying and Selling Your Practice [A Practitioner's Perspective]; Michelle Fowler, CPA, CIA, CISA, CRMA, Michelle taught the VA-Specific Ethics for CPAsArt Werner, JD, MS, Art presented a wealth of knowledge and insight during his two 8-hour courses, A Practical Guide to Trusts & Estate and Financial Planning for the Older Client

Networking events and meals were centered around peer-to-peer interaction and growth. The annual meeting was conducted; a financial review was held and a slate of nominees for the board of directors was presented and voted upon. At the banquet dinner, Director Rose was installed for a 3-year director term and Secretary/Treasurer Williams was installed for a 2-year term.
