Circular 230 Ethics

Prior to the annual meeting VSTAP will be offering a two-hour Circular 230 Ethics Course from 9-11 AM EDT.   This event is free to members and $75 for non-members.

This is a great opportunity to meet your tax practitioner ethics requirement while connecting with fellow professionals. This course meets the IRS requirements for tax preparers, EAs and anyone required to satisfy the IRS Circular 230 two (2) hour Ethics. Please note that the Virginia Board of Accountancy has its own specific ethics courses for Virginia Certified Public Accountants.

This ethics course is designed to provide real life, interesting cases to review current Circular 230 requirements. We also provide an update to the latest Circular 230 proposals on outsourcing, national licensing and other issues.

Designed for:  Accountants, Tax Professionals, CPAs, EAs

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Determine what continuing education courses you should take that will meet the requirements established by the IRS;
  • Determine if you meet the requirements to take a position on a tax return; Determine what you should do as a professional when certain situations arise in your practice to ensure that you do not violate the established ethics rules;
  • Avoid actions that would result in sanctions including censure, suspension, or disbarment.
