    Business Tax In Depth Seminar Information  

    The Tax Cuts bill changed everything we know about the formation and operation of C corporations, LLC’s and S corporations. With in-depth coverage of LLC, S and C corporate tax issues the 2020 in-depth course will also include detailed analyses of the choice of entity that best fits the taxpayer, and corporate formation issues. The LLC chapter will provide guidance on the new partnership audit regulations; the C corporation chapter will discuss the new tax rate and penalty taxes; and the S corporation chapter will examine the 20% flow through deduction, plus the impact of the new tax law on built in gains and the interaction of wages vs. the flow through deduction. Combining the 3 focus areas of C corporations, S corporations and LLC taxation with these two special topics will make this one of the most relevant courses a participant will take in 2020.

    Every chapter has been updated for the effects of the end-of-2019 Budget Bill and both March 2020 tax bills, with in-depth discussion and examples of those changes! 2020 changes are all coming together with 4 different bills into a massive year of tax changes.

    In response to your requests, our S Corporation chapter has been expanded with a new completed 2019 Form 1120S case study, discussion of Passive income and Built in Gains and analyses of this year’s court cases. The C Corporation chapter has also been updated reflecting all of the new NOL changes. The Business interest chapter now includes the brand new law changes and the LLC chapter-wow, the biggest year of changes for LLC’s since 1986.

    COVID-19 Pandemic Impact and Refund

    Because of the impacts on events and professional development caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, VSTAP has been forced to hold this event in a virtual online format.  A live simulcast option of the event will be offered for those wishing to attend in person at the Doubletree Hotel in Williamsburg. 

    The live simulcast will have the same registration fee as the original live seminar did.  The session will be simulcast onto a screen in a large amphitheater which will be limited to a certain number of attendees.  Attendees will receive attendance credit through the Room Monitor and may ask questions through the monitor.  Simulcast attendees will receive a hard copy of the notebook provided by Tax Speaker, breakfast and lunch, and attendance to a space-appropriate networking reception on the first day. Attendees will not need to use their own computer because the seminar will be shown on a large screen.

    If attendees have already registered for the live seminar then they will moved automatically to the simulcast option.  However, they may request to be moved to an online registration or request a cancellation and a refund.

    The online format will require a computer and internet connection to be provided by the attendee.  The online event registration includes only an electronic version of the Tax Speaker seminar notebook.  Participants in the online version of the seminar will be supported by Tax Speaker’s staff and their attendance for CPE will be tracked by Tax Speaker.  The cost of the online registration is lower, therefore the difference between what was paid and the new online event registration fee will be refunded to those who paid registration prior to this announcement.   Because the event will be held in a format other than originally listed, all administrative fees will be waived for those who registered prior to the announcement of the change to an online event.

    Attendance Cancellation Policy

    Attendee cancellations and requests for refunds MUST be done in writing by e-mail or mail.  Postmarks for mail must be before the cancellation date.  Phone calls and phone messages will not qualify as notice of cancellation.

    Refund Policy

    Cancellations received must be received five (5) business days before the beginning of the event program to be eligible for refunds.  An administrative charge of $50 will be applied to all refunds.

    Cancellations not received in writing by the date required will not be eligible for a refund. If cancellations requests are received less than five (5) days but more than 24 hours before the start of the program will be charged a $125 cancellation fee and the balance of the registration will be applied to a future VSTAP event.

    If a person registered for the live event they will automatically be given the choice to register at a new rate for a simulcast or online seminar with all change fees waived.  Where there is a simulcast attendees will automatically be registered at that level but may decide to do online only.  If a simulcast is not available the attendee will automatically be registered as an online attendee and refunded the cost difference.  Attendees retain the option to cancel according to the policy above.

    Virginia Specific Ethics for CPAs Information 

    This training has been created to help you meet the Virginia Board of Accountancy's (VBOA) annual 2-hour (100-minute) CPE requirement for 2020. Section 18VAC5-22-90 of the Virginia Board of Accountancy's regulations requires that all Virginia CPAs subject to continuing professional education must take an annual 2-hour ethics course acceptable to the VBOA. Each year, the VBOA provides an outline of topics to be included.

    This training is specific to licensed Virginia CPAs working in the accounting profession for public practice, industry, government, nonprofits and academia. All CPAs are subject to Virginia CPE requirements. Visit the Virginia Board of Accountancy website for more information.

    COVID 19 Pandemic Cancellation- Because of the impacts on events and professional development caused by the COVID 19 pandemic, VSTAP may be forced to hold this event in a virtual online format or postpone the event.  Should the event need to be changed to a virtual event the cost difference between the event and your paid registration will be refunded to you.  If the event is postponed or cancelled your registration will be applied to the next in-person VSTAP event of the same title in the same city.    If the event is not held as originally planned or held as a virtual event, the administrative fee will be waived for refund requests as long as the request for cancellations and refunds are requested according to the rest of this policy.

    Virginia Specific Ethics for CPAs Information 

    This training has been created to help you meet the Virginia Board of Accountancy's (VBOA) annual 2-hour (100-minute) CPE requirement for 2020. Section 18VAC5-22-90 of the Virginia Board of Accountancy's regulations requires that all Virginia CPAs subject to continuing professional education must take an annual 2-hour ethics course acceptable to the VBOA. Each year, the VBOA provides an outline of topics to be included.

    This training is specific to licensed Virginia CPAs working in the accounting profession for public practice, industry, government, nonprofits and academia. All CPAs are subject to Virginia CPE requirements. Visit the Virginia Board of Accountancy website for more information.

    COVID-19 Pandemic Cancellation- Because of the impacts on events and professional development caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, VSTAP may be forced to hold this event in a virtual online format or postpone the event.  Should the event need to be changed to a virtual event the cost difference between the event and your paid registration will be refunded to you.  If the event is postponed or cancelled your registration will be applied to the next in-person VSTAP event of the same title in the same city.    If the event is not held as originally planned or held as a virtual event, the administrative fee will be waived for refund requests as long as the request for cancellations and refunds are requested according to the rest of this policy.

    Upon completion of this course, you will be able to properly report amounts on clients’ Form 1040 returns that appear on various 3rd party forms, properly prepare Form 1040 and its various schedules; properly file the above forms with Form 1040 when required; Determine if clients qualify to take various credits on their 1040 returns to reduce taxable income; Properly deduct disaster losses on Form 1040; Provide clients with methods of saving for their children’s college education and determine if they qualify for various education credits and deductions to reduce taxable income; Prepare to handle IRS audits of your clients; Comply with the requirements imposed by the Circular 230 regulations; Advise clients who are members of the military on special taxation rules.

    COVID-19 Pandemic Impact and Refund

    Because of the impacts on events and professional development caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, VSTAP has been forced to hold this event in a virtual online format.  

    The online format will require a computer and internet connection to be provided by the attendee.  The online event registration includes only an electronic version of the Tax Speaker seminar notebook.   A printed, hard-copy of the notebook may be purchased directly through Tax Speaker. Participants in the online version of the seminar will be supported by Tax Speaker’s staff and their attendance for CPE will be tracked by Tax Speaker.  The cost of the online registration is lower, therefore the difference between what was paid and the new online event registration fee will be refunded to those who paid registration prior to this announcement.   Because the event will be held in a format other than originally listed, all administrative fees will be waived for those who registered prior to the announcement of the change to an online event.
